Ebrahim Sujee
Chairman Roshgold Investment Holdings
Ebrahim Sujee’s experience in finance, retail management and entrepreneurship qualifies him to be a co-ordinator and judge for The Roshgold Young Business Achiever Award. As Chairman of Roshgold, Mr Sujee, says; “ Roshgold always encouraged entrepreneurship. We needed an initiative like this to help drive younger people into business.” He appeals to all young achievers who qualify to enter and enjoy the ride of this exciting competition.
Nasir Seedat
Assistant General Manager – Albaraka bank
Nasir Seedat is a Regional Manager Finance with Albaraka Bank and holds a B. Comm. Honours Degree from the University of Natal – specialising in Business Management. He recently completed and International Executive Development programme and an MBA. He was one of the judges in the 2017 inaugural YBAA competition and is passionate about teamwork and customer care.
Zaheera Bham
Host of iTrend ITV, Speech & Language Therapist & Audiologist
Chairperson of the Caring Womens Forum (CWF) and a trustee of the Islamic Holistic School for Alternative Needs (IHSAN), a centre that caters for children and adults with disabilities. An entrepreneur she is a director of Commonwealth Women in Business, Africa and is popularly followed as a guest blogger. She is actively involved in furthering the work of a number of NGO’s and enjoys public and motivational speaking. She hosts a weekly television program, Itrend on ITV Networks (DSTV 347)
Haroon Kalla
Awqaf SA Chairman
Haroon Rasheed Aboo Kalla qualified as an Honours in B/Pharm and is a Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Britain. Mr Kalla is a Chartered Marketer and a member of Marketing Federation of South Africa and a Member of the Institute of Directors (SA). He is the Marketing Director of the Amka Group and Chairman of Usebe Investments and director of of other companies. Mr Kalla is an experienced businessman and is involved in many Corporate Social Responsibility projects, including AWQAF and ASRI.
Nazir Osman
CEO Broadway Sweets
Nazir Osman is the CEO of Broadway Sweets, one of South Africa’s largest manufacturers of quality candy products. Established in 1984, their distribution network reaches many countries in Africa and around the world. Broadway Sweets is a BEE company and is totally committed to the upliftment of the communities in which it operates. Their motto: “Broadway Sweets – Live the Sweet Life.” Nazir Osman serves many non-governmental organisations and advisory bodies. He enjoys assisting young entrepreneurs and the judging process for the YBAA event.
Razia Mahomed
Life Coach
She is a Master transformational life coach with over fifteen years’ experience in making a difference to people’s lives. She considers herself to be in the field of inspiring, empowering and motivating individuals to “BE the CHANGE that they Would LIKE To See in Their world”. As a life coach, Razia helps entrepreneurs and individuals to unleash the power of positive thinking. She helps teach skills to rid negative thought processes and helps build a positive mind set, using NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)
Yusuf Patel
Businessman and Humanitarian
Yusuf Patel started his career in the Engineering field, where he served as Co-founder and Managing Director of De-tect Unit Inspection, an internationally based company for over 20 years. He also was Country Director for Islamic Relief – South Africa and served as Strategy Consultant for Stanley Inspection, a division of the worldwide Stanley Group. He is currently in the process of joining the board of a local non-profit Home for Abandoned and vulnerable Children. Yusuf is deeply passionate about community service, social upliftment and youth development initiatives.
Zafeer Nagdee
Consultant and Senior Lecturer
Zafeer Nagdee is a consultant and senior lecturer of corporate governance at the University of Johannesburg. Zafeer completed his MBA at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School in the UK. He also holds a Masters degree in International Accounting, is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA), Registered Auditor (SA) and is also a member of the Institute of Directors of Southern Africa (IoDSA). Recognised by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) as one of South Africa’s Top 35 Chartered Accountants under the age of 35. As a thought leader, he has been recognised through numerous accolades as an advocate of responsible business, principled progress and innovation in addressing world-scale issues.
Iman Faith Melaka
Co-founder of TIC-IT Telecoms
Iman is a co-founder and majority shareholder of TIC-IT Telecoms in Cape Town. She has over fifteen years’ experience in the telecoms sector and has gained extensive experience in renowned organisations such as MTN, Accenture and Vodacom amongst others Her impressive skills sets include areas such as Business Intelligence (BI), Business Analysis, Business Process Management, Customer Value Management (CVM), Billing Assurance, Mobile Applications and Business Management Consulting. Iman has an excellent affinity for detail and new technologies coupled with a strong passion for developing people around her. She recently won prestigious MTN Women in ICT: Partnership for Change Awards
JUDGING CRITERIA
You will be judged by a highly experienced panel of local business experts.
The first step towards winning a business award is to enter. Awards are a great way to generate publicity and raise the profile of your business – free of charge. So go on – make the effort and enter!
The awards will be judged against the following criteria:
- Candidates are able to demonstrate outstanding achievement in their respective field.
- They have clear aspirations and an outstanding attitude to their work.
- Candidates are technologically savvy (includes social media presence/use, website, use of technology in their field/area of expertise etc)
- They are eager to learn/upskill and also show commitment to life-long learning and innovation.
- Employment Creation is a direct outcome of them going into business.
- And very importantly they are worthy candidates who make a significant contribution to social responsibility.
Additional points will be awarded to participants who share attachments to support their entry including:
